1980's Eastern Wind sports a quicker pace that demonstrates that de Burgh can sing songs outside of ballads. It was this album that helped him gain worldwide recognition, thanks in part to it's huge success in the Scandinavian countries (especially Norway). Although the album does include some slower love songs, the overall appeal of Eastern Wind contains some musical jaunts as opposed to his usual collection of tranquil pieces. The lovely "Sailor" is fine proof that de Burgh can contour his voice at will

The Eastern Wind album from Chris was not one that radios aired much. Yet, it does have a few interesting gems on them to (re) discover, the song Sailor being one of them obviously. The production and sound was a bit basic but Chris still managed to deliver the emotion and creativity on most tracks. This album represents well Chris' attempt to transition from his folk rock roots to a more more modern rock sound, judged by the array of various styles expressed on the album. Then, he sailed on to a true commercial success. Chris, a great sailor !
