Herman Brood (Zwolle, November 5, 1946 - Amsterdam, July 11, 2001) was a Dutch musician, painter and media personality.

In 1975, Boudewijn wrote the album Waar ik woon en wie ik ben with his old classmate René Daalder. The single "Ik ben Ik" became a hit. De Groot moved to California a few months later for inspiration, and did not return until 1977. He made no new records in this period, but toured in Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2016 De Groot formed the supergroup Vreemde Kostgangers (Strange Boarders) with Henny Vrienten (bass-player of Doe Maar) and George Kooymans (guitarist of Golden Earring); they successfully released two albums in 2017 and did sold out tours consisting of collective songs and solo-material. In 2018, De Groot released Even weg; he recorded this album with tribute-band The Dutch Eagles. Boudewijn de Groot is married to Anja Bak.

In 1977 Vrienten released his debut solo album Paul Santos, which he recorded with US producer Tom Salisbury. Lift Me Up Higher was extracted as a single. Meanwhile, Vrienten began to work with singer-songwriter Boudewijn de Groot in the studio and on stage. While recording the 1975 album Waar ik woon en wie ik ben ('Where I live and who I am"), he met keyboard player Ernst Jansz and drummer Johnny Lodewijks.

The Rumbones (Rumboon: Dutch alcohol-filled chocolate), led by the vocals of French Toots-soundalike Cris Lester, toured from October 13 to November 12, 1977 and split up immediately afterwards. Instead of embarking on a solo tour, Vrienten decided to stretch himself by writing TV and film scores (notably the Dutch Sesame Street) and producing for other artists.

Henny Vrienten is a Dutch composer of TV- and film-scores  . Vrienten moved on to Sammie America's Gasphetti, recorded demos at his garage and did another tour with de Groot.

Vrienten played in Doe Maar from 1980 until the band's break-up in 1984.
