While Old Man Gloom brings an interesting blend of ambient music and sludge metal, one side of the sound ends up feeling more interesting than the other. What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it?
This is Old Man Gloom's fifth album, their first in eight years. They weren't on hiatus, just busy writing the greatest album in music history. That makes them the proud progenitors of the five greatest albums of all time, "NO" being number one. "NO" is like "one", only spelled backwards and without the "E". - Old Man Gloom are playing shows in 2012 and 2013, just in time for the collapse of the global economy. The acronym for Old Man Gloom is "OMG" . thompsonborge this album will stand the test of any fucking time ever. it is soooo freaking heavy and good. tomorrow it will be any of the other tracks. not a dull moment here. scot moriarty it's like, real heavy.

Old Man Gloom is a sporadic metal group featuring Isis’ Aaron Turner, Converge’s Nate Newton, Cave In’s Caleb Scofield, and versatile drummer Santos Montano. The 12 fastidious and belligerent tracks that make up their two-volume sixth album, The Ape of God, are the most perfectly provocative the band have ever been. The Ape Of God is two entirely different albums. If you downloaded some leaked shit, you don’t have either. Working in cahoots with their new label, Profound Lore Records, Old Man Gloom had circulated an eight-track, 46-minute promotional download called The Ape of God, portraying it as their second release since ending an eight-year hiatus two years earlier.
