Redirected from Thresholds (Nocturnus album)). Thresholds is the second full-length studio album from Florida death metal band Nocturnus. It was released in 1992 by Earache Records and follows the band's debut album The Key. Thresholds continued the experimental sound created on the first album and the line-up was expanded to a six-piece with the addition of a vocalist – allowing Mike Browning to concentrate solely on drums.
Nocturnus was formed in 1987 by drummer/vocalist Mike Browning following the breakup of his old band Incubus. The band was formed by Browning, former Incubus guitarist Gino Marino and former Agent Steel bassist Richard Bateman. The band eventually began working on material and added second guitarist Vincent Crowley. The band hired session bassist Chris Anderson to play on their next album, Thresholds. With Browning becoming less involved in the band's songwriting, Thresholds saw the band moving in a much more space and sci-fi oriented direction lyrically.

Thresholds Tracklist. 1. Climate Controller Lyrics.
Thresholds and Nocturnus’s music required a certain taste and while the first two records managed to carve out a loyal, niche audience, sadly the band didn’t survived too long. Tensions between Mike Browning and the rest of the group began to rise after the release of the album, leading to his dismissal. Line-up changes followed, their contract was dropped, and the band soon split up. A half-hearted return attempt was made in the late 90’s, but the third record Etheral Tomb couldn’t recapture the magic and the musical consistency of the first two albums.
