Fischerspooner is an electroclash duo and performance troupe formed in 1998 in New York City. The name is a combination of the founders' last names, Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner.

The electroclash duo returns from a nine-year hiatus with a new creative brain trust in tow, but a few standout singles aren’t enough to redeem a plodding, repetitive album. That genre’s celebration of artifice, coupled with the suspicion that it was all an art-school lark, created a mountain of critical skepticism that Fischerspooner have had a hard time surmounting ever since. Yet of their three previous albums, two displayed tremendous proficiency in the booth: from 2002, remains a sexy, sleazy snapshot of its time and place, while 2005’s Odyssey convincingly refashioned their sound into muscular electro-rock. They really only blew it with the rickety dance pop of 2009’s Entertainment, and as another great prefab star once sang, two out of three ain’t ba. .

At the time, Fischerspooner was pilloried in rock-critical circles. Yet, the argument that many of today's electronic-pop hit-makers (think Sophie, Charli XCX, Hercules & Love Affair, many of EDM's faux DJs), as well as its conceptualists ( Lady Gaga and Anohni spring to mind) owe 's theatrical vision a huge debt is no stretch. Nine years after the last Fischerspooner album, Sir is no accident or lark. It knowingly serves up the erotic provocations and identity critiques that the pair excelled at in their heyday  . The album's underlying theme is the gay male libido in middle-age twilight. Whether Spooner is the actual lead character or simply sings his part, Sir is packed with faded dreams and renewed hopes of sexual connection weighed down by passing time.
