Godfried Jan Arnold Bomans (2 March 1913 – 22 December 1971) was a popular Dutch author and television personality and a prominent Dutch Catholic. Much of his work remains untranslated into English. Godfried Bomans was born in The Hague and grew up in and around Haarlem, where his father had a law office. He originally studied law at the University of Amsterdam (1933–1938; L. and then until 1942 psychology and philosophy at the University of Nijmegen, but spent his entire life writing.

Sprookjes van Godfried Bomans. I guess I should back up for a minute and describe what this book even is. Godfried Bomans was a beloved Dutch author, humorist, and TV personality who was active from the 50's to his death in 1971. Among other things, he was known for writing witty modern fairy tales (sprookjes). Though his work remains somewhat popular in the Netherlands, most of his books were never translated into English, and I don't think The Wily Witch ever made much of a splash in the English-speaking world.
