Yeezus is the sixth studio album by American rapper and producer Kanye West. It was released on June 18, 2013, by Def Jam Recordings. West gathered a number of artists and close collaborators for production on the album, including Mike Dean, Daft Punk, Noah Goldstein, Arca, Hudson Mohawke, and Travis Scott. Yeezus also features guest vocals from Justin Vernon, Chief Keef, Kid Cudi, Assassin, King L, Charlie Wilson and Frank Ocean. Fifteen days before its release date, West enlisted the help of producer Rick Rubin to strip down the record's sound in favor of a more minimalist approach
The album is something of a razor-sharpened take on 2008's distressed 808s & Heartbreak and marks a blunt break with the filigreed maximalism Kanye so thoroughly nailed on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. For Kanye, there's purpose in repulsion.
Yeezus‘ doesn’t necessarily supersede the elite Kanye West albums, but it is an ambitious, interesting addition to his discography. Evolution is Kanye West‘s middle name. Yeah, his real middle name is ‘Omari’, but perhaps he should change it. Each album by the ever-controversial, opinionated rapper has showcased a different artistic direction from the previous or proceeding one. His highly anticipated sixth solo album Yeezus is no different. It separates itself instantly from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010)

I got this new strategy,’ said Kanye West at the playback for ‘Yeezus’. It’s called: no strategy. The very fact that West was in attendance at the late-night listening event in mid-June is testament to the fact that this musician’s whole modus operandi has changed since 2010’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’.
American rapper and record producer Kanye West has released eight studio albums, two collaborative studio albums, two live albums, three video albums and four mixtapes. West has sold 21 million albums and 100 million digital downloads worldwide. Seven of his studio albums have been certified at least platinum in the United States, and his output has been generally met with consistent commercial and critical popularity.
