Manou N'Guessan Gallo (born 31 August 1972 in Divo, Côte d'Ivoire), is a musician. Brought up by her grandmother, Gallo first performed at the age of 12 and went on to become a success, touring in various African countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, Togo and Benin as well as recording four albums. When the group Woya eventually stopped, Gallo followed Marcellin Yacé to Abidjan. He gave her her first bass guitar and taught her about recording

After being a singer, bass player (Zap Mama, Tambours de Brazza), percussion player and dancer, Manou Gallo has now her own group: ‘Le Djiboi’. With this group, she performs African music in a very inventive and modern way. For the music, she has been inspired by the Djiboi (people of the Ivory Coast - Manou’s homeland), but also by her current western musical culture.

Manou Gallo’s second solo album kicks off with a groove that resolutely refuses to be ignored. I’ll wager you’ll need to tie your feet down to prevent them from tapping, if not sashaying you onto the dance-floor (or living room carpet).
