Palazzo Madama (Italian pronunciation: ) in Rome is the seat of the Senate of the Italian Republic. It was built atop the ruins of the ancient baths of Nero, next to Piazza Navona. The terrain had been acquired in the Middle Ages by the monks of the Abbey of Farfa, who later ceded it to France. The new building was begun at the end of the 15th century and completed in 1505, for the Medici family.

These thermae were the second large public baths built in Rome, after the Baths of Agrippa, and it was probably the first "imperial-type" complex of baths, with a monumental scale and symmetrical, axially-planned design. The thermae covered an area of about 190 by 120 metres.

The Palazzo Madama is the Senate building of the Italian Republic and is behind Pantheon Square. Construction began in the time of Pope Sixtus IV, when medieval Rome was becoming a more modern city. The palace grounds had belonged to Benedictine monks for centuries and they donated the land to the French government. It was then bequeathed it to a bishop who constructed the palace building. This was completed in 1505 by Cardinal John de Medici, the future Pope Leo X. It was the seat of the Medicis family, where the future Queen of France (Catherine de Medicis) passed some time.
