Smile!), Wanted, I Do, I Do, I Do, This Ole House and other songs. The Keynotes were a vocal group formed in 1948 by Johnny Johnston. Other members of the group were Alan Dean, Terry Devon, Irene King, Terry Devon, Pearl Carr, Cliff Adams and Denny Vaughan. Male members of this group recorded as The Johnston Brothers.

The Keynotes made their first public appearance at Feldman's Swing Club in May 1948, and made their first film appearance shortly after in Melody in the Dark, a minor musical starring the rubber- necked comedian, Ben Wrigley, impressionists Carl Carlisle and Maisie Weldon, with Alan Dean singing solo.
