I have often walked on this street before But the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before All at once am I several stories high Knowing I'm on the street where you live. Are there lilac trees in the heart of town? Can you hear a lark in any other part of town? Does enchantment pour out of every door? No, it's just on the street where you live. Oh, the towering feeling Just to know somehow you are near The overpowering feeling That any second you may suddenly appear

While Vic Damone was always a pleasant and talented singer, he wasn't particularly hip or jazz-influenced in the way Frank Sinatra was. That said, he always surrounded himself with excellent musicians and swinging arrangements that made the best of his abilities. EMI's two-fer On The Street Where You Live/The Liveliest combines two of Damone's best albums. Similarly, The Liveliest is a stellar live club date from '63 at Basin Street East in New York City. Starting coolly with a dramatic version of "You and the Night and the Music," Damone really shines on the Scott Walker-esque ballad "What Kind of Fool Am I?" Track Listing.
