Seattle native Bill Anschell returned to the Emerald City in 2002 after spending 25 years studying, composing, and performing across the country and around the world. Anschell left Seattle after high school, studying for two years at Oberlin College (Ohio), then earning his Music Degree from Wesleyan University (Connecticut). At Wesleyan, Anschell worked closely with saxophone great Bill Barron.

Atlanta's Bill Anschell was singer Nnenna Freelon's musical director for four years before moving on to performing and recording on his own. His A Different Note All Together was named one of the ten best jazz albums of the year in 1998 by United Press International. The play list is dominated by the pianist's originals with a smattering of tunes by others. This album is highly recommended. Anschell also produces the widely syndicated radio show Jazz South Radio and has authored two books.

In 1998 his CD, "a different note all together," was selected by UPI (United Press International) as one of the year's "10 Best" jazz releases. That CD and his two follow-up releases "When Cooler Heads Prevail" (2001) and "More to the Ear than Meets the Eye" (2006) both enjoyed critical acclaim and extensive stays on the national jazz.
