Marcel Dupré, French organist of the beginning of the 20th century was well known in United States because of its frequent trips in America. Recorded at Saint-Thomas Church in New-York, the repertoire is far from an eclectic one : only classics from Franck's three Chorals and . The highlight of this Cd is certainly the Salve Regima, from Widor. The organ at St Thomas Church was a masterpiece at the time and the last work of G. Donald Harrison. Unfortunately later organ technicians tried to "modernize" it and eventually it got to the point where the church has just spend eight million dollars on a new organ, with very few of the original sets of pipes. Fortunately, the Cathedral Church of St John the Divine, In Morningside Heights has a Harrison work from 1954 in unaltered recently restored condition. In my opinion, one of the finest organs in the world, let alone the USA.
