December 10, 1926 - April 30, 1927. The second of four CDs in a very valuable series from the Austrian RST label has 12 selections from the Dixieland Jug Blowers (a very spirited sextet with violinist Clifford Hayes, the colorful jug blowing of Earl McDonald, and on six numbers, clarinetist Johnny Dodds as a guest), eight from Earl McDonald's Original Louisville Jug Band, and four by Whistler's Jug.

Clifford Hayes was a member of the group before forming his own jug band in 1919. After McDonald's death, his band was continued by Henry Miles. Clifford Hayes was 17 when asked to play violin with the group including banjo and guitar and was the FIRST JUG BAND TO RECORD (1924) as the accompaniment to vaudeville trained blues star, Sara Martin, also from Louisville. Shortly thereafter the band with various players and under several names recorded on their own with OKeh and later Victor and Vocalion. This was almost two years before the better known Gus Cannon's Jug Stompers of Memphis began to record. The legendary OKeh Race Records division A&R man, Ralph Peer paired Martin with the McDonald/Hayes group for recording.
