Are You Listening? is Dolores O'Riordan's debut solo album. It was released on 4 May 2007 in the Republic of Ireland, 7 May 2007 in Europe and 15 May 2007 in North America. Released the following year, Are You Listening sidesteps the turgid proggy inclinations of latter-day Cranberries albums while also avoiding the awkward attempts at hard rock that plagued some of the band's mid-period albums. So, it returns O'Riordan to her strengths: melodic, atmospheric, mildly brooding pop. But Are You Listening isn't exactly a dead ringer for Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? Youth gives this album drama, grandeur, and muscle, so it sounds positively cinematic where early Cranberries was quiet and insular.

On its release in May, though, Are You Listening? failed to even dent the top 75. There's no explaining it - the new songs are constructed in just the moody, minor-chord mould that worked so prosperously during the Cranberries years, and O'Riordan's voice is in its usual unearthly form. The lofty hooklines - like the majestic belter that makes you sit up straight during Ordinary Day - are stirring stuff, and enhanced by the silvery and uncharacteristic Black Widow (rescued after not making the cut on the 2003 Spider-Man soundtrack).
