Description
Surfer Rosa is the debut studio album by the American alternative rock band Pixies, released in March 1988 on the British label 4AD. It was produced by Steve Albini. Surfer Rosa contains many of the elements of Pixies' earlier output, including Spanish lyrics and references to Puerto Rico. It includes references to mutilation and voyeurism alongside experimental recording techniques and a distinctive drum sound.
Complete your Pixies collection. And Come on Pilgrim is my very favourite Pixies' album. To me it makes total sense packaging these three albums together. They are not meant to be a Pixies retrospective at all (get the massive Minotaur Box Set for the definitive retrospective - an astounding 4AD acheivement on all levels). These three albums together represent the nascent Pixies at their finest, with a live concert recording their sound at that time.

Come on Pilgrim, on the other hand, is filled with greys and colors, and while the contrast between the two is certainly interesting, it would be more enlightening if the mini-LP was placed before Surfer Rosa.
Collected for the first time, the reissue will contain the Pixies’ 1987 eight track mini-LP, Come on Pilgrim, and their 1988 debut album, Surfer Rosa. It also includes a bonus radio session, Live From The Fallout Shelter, which aired on WJUL-FM in 1986. Vaughan Oliver has returned to reinterpret his original artwork. The Pixies have announced five shows at London’s Roundhouse, from October 30th to November 3rd. They will perform Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa from start to finish. Come on Pilgri. t’s Surfer Rosa will be released on September 28th.
