Sympathy for the Devil" is a song by English rock band the Rolling Stones, written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. It is the opening track on their 1968 album Beggars Banquet. The "Rolling Stone Album Guide" may be ok for the casual fan, but for the rest of us, this is not good enough (even though many of us will purchase it anyway or have purchased it already, like myself). 5 people found this helpful. I'm as perplexed as anybody that artists like George Harrison (R&R Hall of Fame inductee for cripes sake!), Deep Purple, and Metallica were left out of this guide. True, no guide can include everybody and there will always be arguments about the omissions.
