Heathen (stylised as uǝɥʇɐǝɥ) is the 22nd studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 11 June 2002. It was considered a comeback for him in the US market by becoming his highest charting album (number 14) since Tonight (1984)
All the vocal tracks from the 2002 album plus the bonus tracks 'Conversation piece', 'When the boys come marching home', 'Wood Jackson' and 'Safe'.

Released June 11, 2002. The album was released before the 9/11, but people said that this was influenced by the terrorist attack. Bowie talked about that in an interview with Paul Du Noyer, when the interviewer asked about the 9/11 thing: No. That’s an easy one to gloss over because I’d wrapped up the lyrical content in July and August. It’s been pointed out to me before that it sounds like a post-September 11 overview, but I think that could be said about a dozen albums around that period. It’s all about context.

Yet Heathen doesn't herald a second coming for David Bowie- not by a longshot. The youthful urgency of his early work is long gone. But that hasn't stopped him from making an album that is easily his best work since the halcyon days of faux-cockney accents and gender bending theatrics a la Scary Monsters, and that's good news. Bowie seems to have finally realized that he's just been trying too damn hard.
Heathen marks a new beginning for David Bowie in some ways - it's his first record since leaving Virgin, his first for Columbia Records, his first for his new label, ISO - yet it's hardly a new musical direction. Like Hours, this finds Bowie sifting through the sounds of his past, completely at ease with his legacy, crafting a colorful, satisfying album that feels like a classic Bowie album

This is not The Duke. This is not the Berlin Trilogy, this is just David Bowie. It is needless to say that the magnificently odd and iconic man named David Bowie is nothing short of a legend. A god among men in the eyes of some. Bowie's musical career has been a constantly changing force, from his trippy folk roots on Space Oddity, to his glam rock Ziggy Stardust persona, to the cocaine fuelled days of the soulful Thin White Duke, to post-disco rock on Let's Dance.
