Anthology, also known as Anthology: The Best of The Supremes, first released in May 1974, is a series of same or similarly titled compilation albums by The Supremes. Motown released revised versions in 1986, 1995 and 2001. In its initial version, a 35-track triple record collection of hits and rare material, the album charted at on Billboard's "Black Albums" and on "Pop Albums".

A 35-track triple LP, it superseded the 1967 double-LP Greatest Hits, including 17 of that album's 20 tracks, as well as the 1969 Greatest Hits, Volume 3, all of which was repeated. All 27 of the Supremes' R&B hits between 1962 and 1969 were featured, as well as 28 of their 30 pop chart entries.
At number 423 in Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 greatest albums of all time is "Anthology" by Diana Ross and The Supremes. 424 – The Rising by Bruce Springsteen (2002). 423 – Anthology by Diana Ross and The Supremes (1973). 422 – Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes by The Ronettes (1964). 421 – The Best of Girl Groups Volumes 1 and 2 by Various Artists (1990). But, instead I chose to blog about the Anthology album by Diana Ross and The Supremes, as I blogged about The Police a few weeks ago (here). At number 432 in Rolling Stone Magazine’s 500 greatest albums is Anthology by Diana Ross and The Supremes.
