Thomas Richard Paxton (born October 31, 1937) is an American folk singer-songwriter who has had a music career spanning more than fifty years. In 2009, Paxton received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He is noteworthy as a music educator as well as an advocate for folk singers to combine traditional songs with new compositions

Paxton started in Greenwich Village in the early 1960,s. He was a staple when a young guy named Bob Dylan showed up. Dylan had about 5 songs and Tom had 50. Phil Ochs, Dave Van Ronk, David Blue and others were also in this crowd. I grew up listening to the music of Tom Paxton. This is classic Tom Oaxton and his songs still resonate today.
