Description

Features Song Lyrics for Talking Heads's Naked album.

Naked is the eighth and final studio album by American rock band Talking Heads, released on March 15, 1988 by Sire Records. The band dissolved shortly after the album's release, but did not announce their breakup until 1991.

Remastered CD/DVD doublepack. CD includes two previously unreleased bonus tracks. DVD features the original album in . Surround Sound and Dolby Stereo, a photo gallery and two bonus videos.

And that brings us to 'Naked'. Arriving in 1988, by this point the band were basically just David Byrne, and on some of these songs, it seems that he has lost interest. Following two pop orientated records, 'Naked' is mostly a re-hash of the paranoid world-beat and funk of 'Remain in Light', but done to a poorer scale. There are more instruments here than 'Remain in Light', and it seems like the band were working on a wider scale, but the result is an album that is pretty sub-standard amongst other releases from the band

Naked, Talking Heads’ eighth and final album, released in April 1988, was something of a reaction to Paul Simon’s Graceland – which introduced world music to mainstream audiences in 1986. But after 1983’s Speaking in Tongues, which featured similar world-music junctures, and the massive world tour that followed, the group began scaling back. They also knew the end was near when they started work on Naked in a Paris studio in 1987. Naked was big, explosive and filled with the polyrhythmic shuffles and sway that made Graceland a worldwide hit. Talking Heads even included dozens of backing musicians, who supplied various horns, percussion and keyboards to the record. In that sense, Naked finds new inspiration in Graceland.

Naked is the eighth and final studio album by the American rock band Talking Heads, released in early 1988. The band dissolved shortly after the album's release, but didn't announce their breakup until 1991. Initial pressings were one of the first and few CDs from Warner Bros. Records to be encoded with CD+Graphics, a videotext-type signal with song lyrics, instrumentation, chords and other information, viewable on a standard television from a compatible CD or Karaoke-CD player.

Consumer Guide Album. Talking Heads: Naked Where Paul Simon appropriated African musicians, David Byrne just hires them, for better and worse-this is T. Heads funk heavy on the horns, which aren't fussy or obtrusive because Byrne knew where to get fresh ones. What's African about it from an American perspective is that the words don't matter-it signifies sonically.

Talking Heads eighth and final album was Naked, released in 1988. The album was an attempt at a quasi-concept album which brings the listener to an ironically serene world following an (apparently) man-made apocalypse. This may not have been the original intent, as the complex musical arrangements were composed and recorded before any of the lyrics which made up this theme were recorded.
