Rare Japanese Prog Rock/Balearic Beat album. Ripped from vinyl, not the best copy unfortunately.
Cosmos Factory – a progressive group formed in Nogoya, 1970. They moved to Tokyo the next year, acquired a manager and got to work. The band are now perhaps best known for their first album, ‘Cosmos Factory’ (. An Old Castle of Transylvania’), which has long been the easiest to obtain on CD. In the Ultima Thule shop catalogue it’s compared to Far East Family Band; I find this very misleading, as the only similarities I can hear are in their worst moments, ie. when they get into their cod-emotive sappy balladic crooning. The next album, ‘A Journey With The Cosmos Factory’, reputedly enters weirder realms and was well-received. Blackhole’ is reputedly comparable to complex King Crimson in some ways.

so prepare for a hypnotizing trip to a psychedelic world! Indeed, most pieces sound a bit freaky and psychedelic but some songs are more symphonic rock like the dreamy The Sea (early Pink Floyd sound) and Journey Of No Destination (great soaring Hammond organ). The opener Sunday's Happening has some bizarre parts and Hiver and Daydream are on the edge of nerveracking music, you have to be up to this kind of music.
Appropriately, Cosmo's Factory's first single was the working band's anthem "Travelin' Band," a funny, piledriving rocker with a blaring horn section - the first indication their sonic palette was broadening. Two more singles appeared prior to the album's release, backed by John Fogerty originals that rivaled the A-side or paled just slightly. When it came time to assemble a full album, Fogerty had only one original left, the claustrophobic, paranoid rocker "Ramble Tamble
