John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band is the debut solo album by English musician John Lennon. The album was recorded simultaneously with Ono's debut avant-garde solo album, Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band, at Ascot Sound Studios and Abbey Road Studios using the same musicians and production team and nearly identical cover artwork.

What intensified interest in John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, though, was that it was his first post-Beatles album. But at this moment in 1970, John Lennon himself was in no doubt. That dream really was over. Conditioned by the mighty impact of each successive Beatles release, fans still expected big things of the four solo acts.

John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band was received with high critical praise upon release. Critic Greil Marcus remarked, "John's singing in the last verse of 'God' may be the finest in all of rock. In 2000, Q placed John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band at number 62 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever. In 1987, the album was ranked fourth on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 best albums of the period 1967–87, and in 2003, it was placed at number 22 in the magazine's list of the 500.

Not much about Plastic Ono Band is hidden. Lennon presents everything on the surface, and the song titles - "Mother," "I Found Out," "Working Class Hero," "Isolation," "God," "My Mummy's Dead" - illustrate what each song is about, and chart his loss of faith in his parents, country, friends, fans, and idols. It's an unflinching document of bare-bones despair and pain, but for all its nihilism, it is ultimately life-affirming; it is unique not only in Lennon's catalog, but in all of popular music

One of which, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band entered the UK charts on 16 January 1971. Listen to John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band right now. John felt passionately about the albums he and Yoko made – Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins, Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with the Lions and the Wedding Album. Aside from their experimental nature all three are radical, avant-garde and innovative; like audio documentaries they are, above all else, visceral, raw and honest. In this respect, they are the musical antecedents of both John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band has continued to fare well in all-time polls in later years. In 1987 Rolling Stone named it as the fourth best album of the previous 20 years, and their top 500 chart in 2003 placed it at No. 22. And finally.
