Brother Ali, for myriad reasons, is not like these other artists, not least in that the life in his music is the life outside his music; while all artists put some of themselves into their music, Brother Ali is an artist who's never been afraid to show his entire true self through his music. This is a tremendous part of what makes Brother Ali's latest album All the Beauty in This Whole Life so fascinating

My copy crackles pretty badly around the color splashes. It's too bad, it's almost un-listenable on vinyl.

does anyone know if the vinyl through Amazon is the translucent colored?

I would imagine so; I believe that this is the only pressing out there.

Yep, it sure is. I need to type at least 10 words to reply for some reason.

It should be the translucent 3 color splatter, Rhymesayers usually just does one run.

Those who pre-ordered received the album today (May 03, 2017). I did, at least.Visually, this is one of the most well designed albums I've come across. The wording is embossed which gives the cover a nice feel, the record sleeves are beautifully designed with sacred geometry, and the lyric book features pictures of Ali meditating. There is also a note from Brother Ali that thanks, in a beautifully worded way, his fans for buying the album. The vinyl is absolutely gorgeous. The splatter is just plain awesome to watch spin. Now, for the music and sound:First of all, the pressing is top-notch. There's surface noise in between some tracks that seem to be there on purpose because absolutely none exists during the songs. It's a quality pressing, for sure.Brother Ali has matured into a wise, spiritually-in-tune, guy. He spits with the same passion, the same ferocity. Here, he has a sense of a spiritual awakening in full swing, along with the same sense of oneness and a sprinkle of political commentary. The overall message of this album, is indeed that there is beauty in this whole life: happiness, sadness, everything. There are plenty of reasons to connect to Ali's music: love of family, love of humanity, love in general, tolerance, and besides all of the profound concepts and social relevance, it's just damn good hip-hop (as he reminds us in the opening track). Being a Sufi Muslim myself, I have always connected and related to Brother Ali quite heavily. This album, with the reference to Rumi and the two names of the Beloved he speaks at the beginning of one track, has secured a permanent bond between artist and fan. That right there, that connection, is what separates the good from the great. Brother Ali is one of the greatest, and this is may just be his greatest creation yet. Recommended to any fan of hip-hop, and an absolute MUST BUY for fans of Ali.
