Herwig Rudolf Mitteregger (born 1953) is an Austrian musician. He became known with the Nina Hagen Band. He lives in Hamburg, Germany. He was also a member of German rock band Spliff. After two albums with Nina Hagen, he founded with his mates from the Nina Hagen Band – Bernhard Potschka (Guitar), Manfred Praeker (Bass), Reinhold Heil (Keyboards) – Spliff. 1976 Mitteregger rose at the Berlin band locomotive Kreuzberg as a drummer and percussionist. After its dissolution in the following year he played in 1978 and 1979 with the Nina Hagen Band two German -speaking, internationally successful albums in. Since the four musicians ( Herwig Mitteregger, Reinhold Heil, Manfred Praeker and Bernhard Potschka ) over threw the singer Nina Hagen, the already contracted second album was " discomfort " first recorded instrumental. The album was a commercial success. In Germany, it peaked at number eleven and also reached charts in other countries, such as Austria and Netherlands. Nina Hagen Band was certified gold by Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI) and has sold over 250,000 copies. Four singles were released from the album: "TV-Glotzer", "Auf'm Bahnhof Zoo", "Naturträne" and "Unbeschreiblich weiblich". The album was promoted by a European tour. As a part of the promotion, Nina Hagen Band performed in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle in December 1978. The show was broadcast. Reinhold Heil – keyboards. Herwig Mitteregger – drums, vibraphone.
