The first piece on the CD is Schoenberg’s little-known arrangement of Handel’s Concerto Grosso in B flat for string quartet and orchestra, which is insanely difficult. But here the solo parts are played with total aplomb by the Fred Sherry Quartet, which vaults over the difficulties the way an athlete vaults over a pommel horse.
