Later that year, her cover of Smokey Robinson's "More Love," from the album Romance Dance (1980), hit No. 10. The following year, Carnes released Mistaken Identity, which featured the worldwide hit, "Bette Davis Eyes. This became the best-selling single of the year in the United States, spending nine weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, going Gold, and won the Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. In 1975, Carnes released her self-titled second album, which contained her first charted hit, "You're A Part Of Me", reached No. 32 on the US Adult Contemporary charts. Carnes re-recorded this track with Gene Cotton three years later. The majority of tracks on this second album were written by Carnes and Ellingson.

Voyeur is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Kim Carnes, released in September 1982 through EMI Records. Carnes began writing material for Voyeur while touring her previous album Mistaken Identity (1981). Voyeur is a synthpop album which Carnes described as "more consistent" than its predecessor.

In 2003, Raven released St. Vincent's Court/Romance Dance, which contained two complete albums - St. Vincent's Court (1979, originally released on EMI) and Romance Dance (1980, also originally on EMI) - by Kim Carnes on one compact disc.

Romance Dance is the fifth studio album by Kim Carnes, released in June, 1980 (see 1980 in music). It followed Carnes' recent duet hit with Kenny Rogers, "Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer". The album spawned two singles, "More Love" and "Cry Like a Baby", which peaked at and on Billboard magazine's Pop Singles chart, respectively. It was soon overshadowed by her next album, Mistaken Identity, released the following year and containing her biggest hit, "Bette Davis Eyes"
