The Art Garfunkel Album (re-titled My Best in Germany) is the first compilation album by Art Garfunkel released in 1984. It showed the first eleven years of his career by compiling all of his greatest hits. Among the fourteen tracks, a new single "Sometimes When I'm Dreaming" was included on the album. Art Garfunkel's first solo album, Angel Clare, was released in 1973 to critical and commercial acclaim. The album contained the smash-hit Jimmy Webb penned tune "All I Know" and was produced by long time Simon & Garfunkel engineer and co-producer, Roy Halee. Halee also produced "Second Avenue," which became a hit single in 1974. Stephen Holden in Rolling Stone wrote, this is "Art Garfunkel's finest album, easily justifies his unfashionable formal approach to pop music by its sheer aural beauty. Shortly after the release of Scissor Cut, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel reunited for a concert in New York's Central Park before a crowd of 500,000. Following up on the success of the concert, HBO special and live album (Platinum), the duo undertook a worldwide tour in 1982-83.

Watermark (Art Garfunkel album). Watermark is the third solo studio album by Art Garfunkel, originally released in October 1977 on Columbia Records. The first single, "Crying in My Sleep", failed to chart, but the follow-up, a version of "(What a) Wonderful World" (featuring harmony vocals from Garfunkel's old partner Paul Simon and mutual friend James Taylor) reached on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and on the Adult Contemporary chart.

Garfunkel released his first compilation album in 1984, The Art Garfunkel Album (UK never released in the US, which contained the minor hit "Sometimes When I'm Dreaming" (UK US AC Garfunkel again left the music scene when his father died, leading Garfunkel further into depression. In the fall of 1985, he met his future wife, Kathryn "Kim" Cermack. They were married in September 1988.
