High Hopes is the eighteenth studio album by American recording artist Bruce Springsteen, released January 14, 2014, on Columbia Records. The album was Springsteen's 11th album in the United States, placing him third all-time for most No. 1 albums only behind The Beatles and Jay-Z. It was his tenth No. 1 in the UK, putting him joint fifth all-time and level with The Rolling Stones and U2. Rolling Stone named it the second-best album of 2014 on their year-end list.

High Hopes' is Bruce Springsteen's most disjointed album, and purposely so. Pulled together from various outtakes, cover songs and re-recordings from the past two decades, Springsteen's 18th album is looser and less structurally sound than anything he's released since becoming a star in the mid '70s. And without something more sturdy to hang his music and lyrics on, 'High Hopes' is somewhat aimless. Not that there aren't some strong songs scattered among the occasionally flimsy frames holding 'High Hopes' together.

High Hopes" is the eleventh and final track from the 1994 Pink Floyd album The Division Bell, composed by David Gilmour with lyrics by Gilmour and Polly Samson. Its lyrics speak of the things one may have gained and lost in life, written from Gilmour's autobiographic perspective. Gilmour has said that the song is more about his early days, and leaving his hometown behind, than about the seeds of division supposedly planted in Pink Floyd's early days. The frisky High Hopes is better, whisked along on horns and guitars, but the other notable rediscovery is the poignant Hunter of Invisible Game, with Bruce murmuring over lilting strings about his struggle to sustain the ethical nobility which is, ultimately, the rock upon which his career rests.
