Eight Arms to Hold You is the second full-length studio album by alternative rock band Veruca Salt, released on February 11, 1997, through Outpost/Geffen Records. The title of the album is a reference to the working title for The Beatles' film eventually titled Help!. All music composed by Veruca Salt. Nina Gordon - guitar, vocals.

Veruca Salt’s sophomore album released on February 11, 1997, after their debut album American Thighs. It includes 14 tracks with their singles Volcano Girls and Shutterbug, both released the same year as the album. Eight Arms to Hold You Q&A. Writers Louise Post & Nina Gordon. Resolver is the third studio album by the American alternative rock band Veruca Salt. It was released on May 16, 2000, on Beyond Records followed by an Australian release on December 6, 2002. This album was the first for the band after the departure of founding member Nina Gordon, who coincidentally released her debut solo album about a month later. Like their previous album, Eight Arms to Hold You, the title is inspired by The Beatles, in this case, a play on the title of their 1966 album Revolver.

I just listened to my black copy. I thought it sounded good. Definitely could be better regarding the surface noise but I'm not disappointed considering the $16 price.

I purchased a copy of this reissue 2 weeks ago, only to have the same issue as mikeh69 with fingers/residue/smears on the LP. This is the first time I've encountered a manufacturing issue like this on new vinyl. Returning it, hopefully, get a better replacement.

My copy sounds surprisingly well. Very happy to finally own this on vinyl

Yeah I bought a copy of this I been waiting 20 years to buy. Cause the original was hilariously priced used I got it for 16.99 sealed the black vinyl version.. So I waited. But I forgot this was a long record. Is it 53 minutes. I also have a Ortofon OM 10 which is a 60 dollar cart . I can upgrade to a OM 40 366.00 stylus. But is the LP worth it upgrading. I hear the distortion on my copy on both songs. And when I took the LP out of the sleeve I was kind of appalled. I saw fingers or glove smears all over the record. It looked like arghhh smears and all kinds of stuff. This was a cheapy for the desperate fans that never owned a copy. I also bought that reissue of American Thighs DMM. I forget if it was good or not. But since my cart was new it played pretty perfectly. But I tend to wonder what a OM 40 would sound like on this LP. The cart is good but just not enough detail. Or is that what the LP really sounds like. Actually I have a rip of the original and it was done differently and sounds better cause it was on a Sumiko Blue Point Special EVO III price 549.00 and that I believe is a much better cart that captured more detail you get what you pay for. Might just be the cheap cart I got. God Louise and Nina I got to buy a 366.00 OM 40 stylus to be satisfied. Maybe a remastered CD is better off. Vinyl is a pain in my butt. LOL ... And I didn't return it cause I figured I get another copy that looked the same.

Sounds excellent now I bought the OM 40 cart for 279.00

It sounds fine-when longer albums are compressed to two sides like this the bass and volume seem to be what suffer the most. Get a better cart. Make sure it's properly aligned. Get a better amp. Don't cheap out on the amp. Also, due to the shitty way they decided to press this, the LP will only ever sound "okay", so keep that in mind.

I'm not happy either, sounds like absolute crap. Needs to be a double album. Love this album but I doubt it will be played much.

This release is a repress of the 1997 Outpost/Minty Fresh vinyl. Unfortunately, the sound quality of the original release is notoriously poor. Due to this, the repressed vinyl sounds flat and unmastered. The songs that are bass heavy (Straight and Shutterbug) suffer the most. This distortion is largely due to their past label shoving way too many songs on a single vinyl. Over 22 mins per side results in narrower grooves, and consequently, crushed audio quality. The sides are over 30 minutes. Do the math.Wait for a remaster... This release is for collectors only; audiophiles should take a hard pass.

My copy sounds terrible. Tons of surface noise and crushed bass. The production on EATHY is huge and the vinyl totally loses the arena rock feel of the album by sounding flat and low volume. Yes, Some songs sound passable but I will likely never spin it again.
Arlelond Arlelond
Given your review, it sounds much better than I thought it would. Yes, a bit flat and lacks some oomph, but not the worst I've heard. Given the following for VS, I sincerely doubt a remaster will occur, and chances are, it wouldn't be great.

This appears to have been a marketing gimmick to get US fans only to sign up for a text service run by Sound on Vinyl.

Hey, if anyone has a copy to sell please message me. Take care

Its' getting a reissue. Will be out in January 2018!

I love this album so much, but the cassette kind of sucks with how much blank space there is after Benjamin, before you get to the end of the side. Who thought this was okay? If you flip the tape as soon as Benjamin ends, Shutterbug gets skipped completely.

THIS IS ONE OF THOSE ALBUMS YOU PLAY START TO FINISH. STRONG ENERGY ROCK AND SOFT BALLADS MAKE THIS A PERFECT BLEND. DEFINETLY GIVE IT A LISTEN.
