Stephen Sondheim's Follies is a tale of midlife crises behind the guise of aging follies girls and their disappointing husbands. As the theater where the girls used to perform is about to be destroyed, they gather once more to celebrate it and to reflect on the directions their lives have taken. Sondheim's score has some wonderful highlights, including "Broadway Baby," "Could I Leave You?," and "I'm Still Here. This remains one of Sondheim's greatest scores.

This recording of Stephen Sondheim's legendary show has become something of a legend itself. Sondheim said himself that this recording is a butchering of the Follies score. The label agreed to give him only one LP for the record, so almost every song is cut short or lacking in a large way. Still, a wonderful piece of history in the life of this musical.
