The Gracious Few (also known as TGF) were an American rock group from York, Pennsylvania. The band featured guitarist Chad Taylor, bassist Patrick Dahlheimer and drummer Chad Gracey from the band Live, along with lead vocalist Kevin Martin and guitarist Sean Hennesy from the band Candlebox. With Live on what they initially termed a "two-year hiatus", Chad Taylor, Chad Gracey and Patrick Dahlheimer needed a vocalist for the new songs they had written
Drummer Chad Gracey explained the album's sound, "We knew we wanted to be a little harder than what Live had been doing and even what Candlebox had been doing. Chad Taylor comes up with a lot of the riffs that we start the songs from and he was just playing this real sort of heavy, bluesy stuff. Once we heard that we were like, 'Wow, this is kind of a Led Zeppelin, throwback feel' and it just sort of happened
Released date 14 September 2010. Labels Questionable Entertainment.
At first, the debut outing for the Gracious Few sounds a lot like one would expect from members of '90s alt-rock staples Live and Candlebox. The first 30 seconds of opening track Appetite roll on in like fog covering the Puget Sound, only to be obliterated by what sounds like a lost cut from Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti.
The Gracious Few played their first concert date at Fat Daddy's in York, Pennsylvania on May 27, 2010. This was followed by shows at Summerfest in Milwaukee on June 25, 2010 and The Troubador in Los Angeles on June 2. .The Gracious Few. The band began rehearsing in California in September 2009 and subsequently recorded their self-titled debut album. It was produced by Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads and mixed by Tom Lord-Alge. The first single from the album is "Honest Man". In September 2010, Kevin Martin explained that it had been difficult to schedule the recording.
