Description

3rd full length Lp by The pains of being Pure at Heart out now!!!

Though Days of Abandon is a title that seems to fit every Pains record perfectly (it takes inspiration from the Elena Ferrante novel of a similar name), their third LP, out this week through Yebo, earns the descriptor with brilliant, heartbreaking grace. The cover, painted by Lee Jinju is a pagan masterpiece: two dancers in a state of undress, playing the songs of youth, and crying away tears of lost love while the archetypes of a world begging to be painted in black and white lie disregarded around the scene. Days of Abandon is out tomorrow through Yebo.

Days of Abandon’, the Pains’ third full-length album, widens that division. Taking in everything from g balladry (‘Art Smock’) to wave-over-wave climaxes of crystalline dream-pop guitar (‘Beautiful You’), with the odd Smithsy bassline (‘Kelly’) and gentle eruption of warm brass (‘The Asp at My Chest’), it’s a veritable banquet of indie-pop tropes. The uniting factors are Berman’s undeniably savvy songwriting and an unabashed, unrestrained lushness that’ll be either cloying or delicious, depending on your palate. More than ever, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart are the Marmite of indie-pop – only much, much sweeter.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are an American indie pop band from New York City, formed in 2007. The band currently centers around founding member and principal songwriter Kip Berman (vocals, guitar). Live he is joined by Christoph Hochheim (guitar), Jen Goma (keyboards, vocals), Jacob Sloan (bass), and Anton Hochheim (drums).

Days of Abandon, like everything before it in the Pains catalogue, will win precisely zero prizes for originality, but there’s a vivaciousness permeating every aspect of the record that breathes so much new life into its well-worn touchpoints. What makes Days of Abandon less warm and immediate than the Pains’ previous peaks is that even as Berman has broadened his palette and expanded his range of possibilities, his musical vocabulary seems more borrowed and derivative than before.

The Abandon Days is a contemporary soundtrack film which deals with love, loneliness, human relationships and the pains of being pure at heart. 0 of 0 users found this helpful. And why did he give the Sunny Day in Glasgow chick lead vocals on two (horrible) songs? Until the Sun explodes is pretty much the only song on this whole album that I really like. It's just too light and fluffy.

Indie pop fans, rejoice - a new Pains of Being Pure at Heart album is here. Almost three years exactly since the release of 2011's "Belong" the Brooklyn-based indie pop troupe will release its third full length album, "Days of Abandon," May 13 via Yebo Music. The ten tracks on "Days of Abandon" showcase a mastery of decades worth of pop music, from 60s girl groups to late-80s indie pop, tied together with magnificently hi-fi production that lends the gloss on every note a little extra shimmer.

Days of Abandon is the third studio album by American band The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. It was released in May 2014 under Fierce Panda Records in Europe and Yebo Music in the USA. Insound did a special bone yellow vinyl pressing of 500 units. Consequence of Sound wrote that the album was "more deliberately articulated" than previous releases, comparing the style to The New Pornographers and Interpol
