Pale Blue's You Stopped Dying has been bouncing around the inside of my head for the past month and a bit. I first heard the EP's title track whilst travelling, in San Francisco, experiencing an early spring in the midst of an emotional autumn. I guess that's a fall for San Francisco. The eagerly anticipated release 'You Stopped Dying' from electronic duo Pale Blue is out now on Crosstown Rebels P is very much a hypnotic affair, the driving bass sitting perfectly under Wight’s powerful yet ethereal vocals. Daughter of Babylon' takes the record into heavier techno territory with its thudding bass and Wight’s breathy vocals delicately layered over the top.

Pale Blue, referencing the term Pale Blue Dot, coined by Carl Sagan to refer to a photograph of planet Earth taken by the Voyager 1 space probe in 1990, was originally conceived around the time that Hurricane Sandy hit New York and came to completion with Simonetti’s severance from Italians Do It Better. Thus, many of the tracks that make up The Pas. rapple with themes of loss and new beginnings. The first release on 2MR will be The Past We Leave Behind, the debut album from Pale Blue. During the writing process of Capricorn Rising, Simonetti was asked to remix tracks from the West Coast twosome Silver Hands. Immediately taken by the incredible range of lead-vocalist Elizabeth Wight, he reached out to collaborate.

Pale Blue Eyes" is a song written and sung by Lou Reed and performed by The Velvet Underground. It was included on the band's 1969 album The Velvet Underground. Despite the name, "Pale Blue Eyes" was written about someone whose eyes were hazel, as Reed notes in his book Between Thought and Expression. The song is said to have been inspired by Shelley Albin, Reed's first love, who at the time was married to another man.
