Description

Tim is the fourth studio album by The Replacements, released in 1985 by Sire Records

Tim is the fourth studio album by American alternative rock band The Replacements. It was released in October 1985 on Sire Records. It was their first major label release and also the last album made by the original line-up of the band: guitarist Bob Stinson was kicked out of the band towards the end of 1986. Like its predecessors, Tim achieved moderate mainstream commercial success despite critical acclaim

Moving to a major label was inevitable for the Replacements: they garnered too much acclaim and attention after Let It Be to stay on Twin/Tone, especially as the label faced the same distribution problems that plagued many indies in the mid-'80s - plus, the 'Mats' crosstown rivals, Hüsker Dü, made the leap to the big leagues, paving.

Released October 1985. 1. Hold My Life Lyrics. Tim was The Replacement’s fourth studio album, their first with a major label, and was released in October 1985 on Sire Records. The album sees the ‘Mats continue the themes lead singer Paul Westerberg implemented on their previous album Let It Be, which he wanted to be a little more sincere. Some of these more sincere tracks include the deeply insightful Swingin’ Party, which was covered on Lorde’s Pure Heroine in 2013 to the surprise of many. Their first major label release, Tim is also sadly the last album to feature the full original lineup of the band

18, 1985, Tim was the best possible outcome - proof the Replacements could go respectable without losing their edge. It’s about as strong a major label debut as any underground punk band has ever made, and while many ‘Mats heads will go to the mat for 1984’s Let It Be - the foursome’s third LP and last one for the Minneapolis indie Twin/Tone - Tim is arguably the band’s finest moment. Lay It Down Clown : While not quite Tommy Got His Tonsils Out or Gary’s Got a Boner, the jokey cuts that make Let It Be such a similar album, this roadhouse-punk rager about a switchblade-packing drug addict stands alongside Dose of Thunder as a jarring break from the cleverness and profundity of the surrounding tracks.
