Journey is the self-titled debut album by the band of the same name. It was released in 1975 on Columbia Records. Unlike their later recordings, this is a jazzy progressive rock album which focuses mainly on the band's instrumental talents. It is the only album to include rhythm guitarist George Tickner among their personnel.

He also recorded with The Blackbyrds and Rena Scott. By 1987, Bartz started recording more mainstream jazz style albums for Mapleshade, SteepleChase and Candid.

Carrying much more rhythmic oomph than either 1978 Bartz date, the album's clear-cut highlight is "Keep Goin' On" (a Tawatha showcase), but "Need Your Love" and "Music" (where you can hear Eaves revving up for "D" Train) are also bound to move those who love all other late-'70s/'80s Mtume and albums.

The Album mostly written by Cain, Why didn't they keep him as the lead writer after this amazing album? Nothing in there library tops it! Has don't stop believing - Ajkloth. This was when Perry first joined Journey; the lineup was fresh and eager to go new places musically. The results are indeed magical, and overall they exceed everything more pop/synth oriented they came out with afterwards. Steve Perry never sang better than he did in this album, making it a clear winner, escape is close though. Every song on here is amazing.
