Karen Carpenter is the only solo album by singer/drummer Karen Carpenter of the Carpenters, recorded in 1979-80 and released by A&M Records in 1996. It has sold around 1 million copies worldwide. The album was recorded in New York with producer Phil Ramone in 1979 and 1980, during the time that her brother Richard was being treated for an addiction to Quaaludes. Some of the songs from the album were later featured on the Carpenters' 1989 compilation Lovelines and later releases.
Karen Carpenter, great as she was, brought a rich tone and controlled, frustrated delivery to a standard pop style. by I''ll meet Karen in the great beyond. I'm just saying that Karen doesn't deserve as much praise as someone like Linda R. who challenged herself and did all kinds of pop & rock music. Karen just stayined in the mellow pop ballad category and as an artist, that becomes boring. They were just releasing the Christmas album, and in conjunction held a concert at the Long Beach Terrace Theatre. I was in the choir, which was made up of the three major voice ensembles at CSULB. I remember she had quite the reputation as a bitch, but I don't remember that, although I do remember that she was very exacting and even in rehearsal everything had to be perfectly done.

You’re A Woman Lyrics. Tonight There'll be no darkness tonight Hold tight Let your love light shine bright Listen to my heart And lay your body next to mine Let me fill your soul with all my dreams. You're a woman, I'm a man This is more than just a game I can make you feel so right Be my lady of the night You're a woman, I'm a man You're my fortune, I'm your fame These are things we can't disguise Be my lady of the night.
