Malicorne 1 is the debut studio album by Malicorne, released in October 1974. It is sometimes referred to as Colin because the album is called "Malicorne" and "Colin" is the first track. MALICORNE was founded in 1973 by French singer/guitarist Gabriel YACOUB and Marie YACOUB, after having recorded an album together. With several other musicians, MALICORNE released approximately 10 albums between 1973 and 1986. The band's speciality was French traditional (. folk) music, but revamped and updated with a fresher, more progressive format.

Fresh out of Alan Stivell's band, Gabriel Yacoub recorded the first album by his own group, Malicorne, and made sure that despite the fact that he, too, was taking the folk revivalist route, the group's music would come out as being very different. Mission accomplished.
