The most recent solo album released by Ross is Short Stories Vo., released in September 2017. Ross married fellow Deacon Blue singer Lorraine McIntosh on 12 May 1990. In 2005, Ross released the album Pale Rider through P3 Music. In September 2009 Ross and McIntosh released The Great Lakes, an album on the Cooking Vinyl label, under the name McIntoshRoss. 2013 saw the release of Ricky's latest collection of songs, the 12-track Trouble Came Looking, on the Edsel Recordings label

Ross produced the album with Kenny MacDonald, who had produced for Deacon Blue in the past. The album has more touches of folk and country music and the general mood of the album is more placid than most of the Deacon Blue catalog. Deacon Blue colleague James Prime plays piano on "The Way to Work", and Ross' wife and Deacon Blue colleague Lorraine McIntosh contributes vocals to one song (as she did on each of Ross' three prior solo albums), "Nothing Cures That". This is the first Ricky Ross solo album to receive a US release.

Dundee-born Deacon Blue frontman Ricky Ross has announced he will return home on his latest tour. The tour comes off the back of continued success with Deacon Blue. Now, Ricky is stepping out on his own again and heading back to his native city. He is playing the Gardyne Theatre on May 3 as he promotes his sixth studio album - Trouble Came Looking.

Ricky Ross is best known as the lead singer of contemporary pop/rock outfit Deacon Blue, one of the most successful Scottish bands of the late '80s and early '90s. Born in Dundee in 1957, he played keyboards in various local bands before releasing an album, So Long Ago, through indie label Sticky Records in 1984. Advised to put a band together by his publishers, he formed the six-piece Deacon Blue a year later, which went on to score two number one albums, When the World Knows Your Name and Our Town: The Greatest Hits, and 17 Top 40 singles before disbanding in 1994. He released the solo album Trouble Came Looking in 2013, and toured the record acoustically. For his seventh album, Ross recorded Short Stories, Vol. 1 in just two days in Hamburg. The record featured re-recorded Deacon Blue tracks as well as original solo pieces.
