Darren McClure is a sound artist living in Matsumoto, Japan. His music folds together electronics, drones and processed field recordings to create pieces of minimal, abstract ambience.

Veerian is the result of a collaborative project involving Uwe Zahn (aka Arovane), Porya Hatami and Darren McClure. Recorded by Uwe Zahn, Porya Hatami and Darren McClure between August and November 2015 in Berlin, Sanandaj and Matsumoto // Mastered by Porya Hatami in January 2016. Darren McClure utilizes processed field recordings and software generated sound to create music that focusses on the small details within the larger structure. His emphasis is on sound placement, texture and layers, on top of which fragmented melodies appear and disappear. Originally from Northern Ireland and currently living in Matsumoto, Japan, he has released material on labels such as Oblast, Rain Music, Test-tube, Cherry Music, Standard-Klik-Music, Zymogen, Magic Book and Factotum Arts.

Nest is the second collaboration between Arovane and Darren McClure. This time their focus was on the sonic possibilities of granular synthesis, turning sound into music and music into sound. The album was named after a photograph taken by Arovane, which perfectly described the creation of the music: layers of twisted audio, processed and bent into new shapes and soundscapes.
