Syn Ze Sase Tri is inspired by the bloody history and myths of their motherland Transilvania. In 2009 founding members Corb and Spin joined fellow-citizens Negura Bunget to replace leaving members Soul Faur and Hupogrammos, composing and recording the album Virstele Pamintului. The band Syn Ze Şase Tri was formed in 2007 by Corb, inspired by the bloody history and myths of his motherland Transilvania. Focusing on the figure of the warrior, the band started to compose the first songs about their ancestors, the way of the Dacian warriors and their beliefs, their gods, their last days and their prayers.

Syn Ze Şase Tri is very classically oriented with beautiful, technical keyboard parts and orchestral arrangements. The riffs, too, seem like they’re pretty solid and awesome. Despite having three tracks over 10 minutes, there seem to be very few points on this record that should really be boring, because the composition is very solid. Sure, it’s orchestral black metal, but it’s a lot more neo-classical than the Norwegian variety and I’ve not heard anyone do it quite in this way. This stand out on the epic track Intre Doua Lumi. Because, frankly it’s painful. This music gets destroyed by the desire to try to get this thing as loud as possible.

Eastern Europe seems to be the fertile ground of symphonic black metal right now, and although most of the efforts I’ve heard lately are crucially lacking in any good and original ideas, Syn Ze Şase Tri’s debut offering Între Două Lumi is a rather interesting 43 minutes that mix the energetic and grandiose elements of Dimmu Borgir with a minor flavour. The production could do better (or then it’s just my promo version that has quite a watery and weak sound) but it doesn’t hinder me from liking the album, liking the album to the extent that it’s so far the best sympho black metal album from 2011 along with Saille’s recent debut.
