The Swing Era was a 15 volume (3 LP) series of stereo re-creations of the greatest hit records from the 1930's and 1940's. Released by Time-Life Records in 1970, this was one of Time- Life's most popular sets, having been reissued at least three times since its introduction in the early 1970s (see below)

This LP has a sampling of Glen Gray's Casa Loma Orchestra's recordings from 1938-1940, 1943, and 1946. Most of the selections were cut in the studios, although a few (most notably the pair from 1943) are probably taken from radio airchecks. The Casa Loma Orchestra was most significant in the early '30s, becoming an influence on the Benny Goodman big band. However, by the late '30s, the orchestra had itself become influenced by Goodman and was becoming a bit lost in the crowd.
