The untitled fourth studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, commonly known as Led Zeppelin IV, was released on 8 November 1971 by Atlantic Records. It was produced by guitarist Jimmy Page and recorded between December 1970 and February 1971, mostly in the country house Headley Grange. The album contains one of the band's best known songs, "Stairway to Heaven".
Led Zeppelin formed out of the ashes of The Yardbirds. Jimmy Page had joined the band in its final days, playing a pivotal role on the group's final album, 1967's Little Games, which also featured string arrangements from John Paul Jones. During 1967, the Yardbirds were fairly inactive. Whilst the band members decided the group's future, Page returned to session work in 1967.

Led Zeppelin is the debut album by English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was released on 12 January 1969 in the United States and on 31 March in the United Kingdom by Atlantic Records. The album was recorded in September and October 1968 at Olympic Studios, London, shortly after the band's formation. It contains a mix of original material worked out in the first rehearsals, and remakes and rearrangements of contemporary blues and folk songs
The discography of the English rock band Led Zeppelin consists of eight studio albums, four live albums, nine compilation albums, sixteen singles and eight music downloads. Formed in London in 1968, the group consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bass player John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham. The band pioneered the concept of album-oriented rock and often refused to release popular songs as singles.
Led Zeppelin are widely considered one of the best 70s bands and one of the best rock bands of all time. Led Zep formed in the UK in the late '60s, with a lineup consisting of Robert Plant on vocals, Jimmy Page on guitar, John Paul Jones on bass, and John Bonham on the drums. Tragically, the band's future was cut short in 1980, when Bonham died of an accidental alcohol overdose leading to inhalation of vomit. This Led Zeppelin discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Led Zeppelin albums can be found at the top of the list.
By their fourth album, Led Zeppelin were working within a stirring range of styles, even as they continued to make and then break their own rules. That 1971 project would go untitled, and would yield no singles. Yet, it still went 23-times platinum in the . Eventually, fatigue and personal tragedy slowed Led Zeppelin, and then ground the band to a complete halt. But not before they'd created a catalog of music – carefully curated more recently through a lengthy reissue series by Jimmy Page – which remains a well spring of inspiration for musicians working in every genre from hard rock.
