Lou Reed Bottom Line May 11, 1977. Lou Reed, vocals, guitar; Vinny LaPorta, guitar; Eddie Reynolds, guitar; Bobby Resigno, bass; Scottie Clark, drums. This is the best Lou/Tots recording I've ever encountered. In terms of Lou's vocals, this is also the finest recording of this era yet. They are up front and crystal clear resulting in an extremely intimate feel to this recording. It takes a few songs to get there, but then the mix is also nice and full, with a great punchy low end - which is often lacking on the various Lou masters. The tape stock ran out with the encore.

Remastered by Reed before his death. Legacy Recordings will release Lou Reed – The RCA & Arista Album Collection, Vol 1, the first box set in a series looking back at the late singer’s solo albums. Comprised of six early Reed albums, Vol 1 includes: Transformer (1972), Berlin (1973), Rock n Roll Animal (1974), Coney Island Baby (1975), Street Hassle (1978) and The Blue Mask (1982). The LPs will be housed in a meticulous reproduction of the original artwork, with an accompanying 30 page book. The recordings were remastered by Reed in the months before his October 2013 death

Lou Reed plays songs from New York in 1989 at Milwaukee’s Riverside Theater. Last week, I wrote about "Lulu," the 31st and final album in my series. What some love, others hate. Thanks for taking this trip with me. New York" (1989): A careening taxi ride through Reed's hometown, with the singer as your cranky, garrulous driver. Reed's most passionately engaged album on all fronts - vocally, lyrically and on guitar. 2. "Songs for Drella" (1990): Reed and former Velvet Underground bandmate John Cale deliver a compelling set of songs about their mentor and patron, Andy Warhol, including some remarkable tunes about Warhol's aesthetics.
