Raise is the first studio album by the British alternative rock band, Swervedriver. The album only contained six new songs; "Son of Mustang Ford", "Rave Down" and "Sandblasted" had all appeared on earlier EPs and singles released by the band between 1990 and 1991. 1991's Raise was a quality debut, and it's dated surprisingly well. The muscular, scorching guitars are the heart of the album, and they still bring the noise like nobody's business. The big distortion and interlocking riffs give most of the album a dense, bright sound with a lot of punch. Son of Mustang Ford" rumbles like the car it's named for, "Rave Down" launches into hyperspace after three minutes of tense, grungy crunching, and "Sunset" pulls back a bit, layering cleaner guitars than usual over a bubbling bassline and unison vocals.

Adding to this is a fascination with the open road; only two of the album's nine songs do not directly reference cars or driving. It's no real surprise, then, that this Oxford, England-based band found a home on Stateside turntables that were otherwise Anglophobic, despite being pigeonholed as shoegazers. In all fairness, the band was about as exciting to watch as any actual shoegaze band, and Adam Franklin's vocals were buried deep within the studio and live mixes.

Mezcal Head is the second album released by the British alternative rock band Swervedriver released in 5 August 1993 under Creation Records in the United Kingdom and on A&M Records in the United States. In 1993, Swervedriver re-emerged with the core of Adam Franklin and Jimmy Hartridge, along with newly recruited drummer Jez Hindmarsh (. Jez"), and released the album Mezcal Head

Their direct approach of the shoegaze sound can be heard by listening to a song like "Rave Down". But they're mainly focusing on the noisy and distortion guitar lines. Swervedriver's heavy days have not yet been gone. Since their reformation in 2008 they're touring all around the world and in 2018 they hit the stage again.
