Versus is the sixth studio album by The Haunted. It was released on 17 September 2008. This marks a return to their aggressive sounds in the previous albums after their experimental fifth album The Dead Eye. All instruments were recorded live like their debut album, The Haunted, and solos and vocals were added once they had the songs down. The album is more or less about the decadence of mankind as last two songs "Faultline" and "Imperial Death March" point it out.

There’s only so many times I can hear people say Trivium are actually amazing before I want to scream ’slowly becoming average’ at them! But I wasn’t quite prepared for actually how good this album would turn out to be, even with the press drooling over it. The fact I always loved about The Haunted were that they were from the spiritual home.

The Haunted is a Swedish extreme metal band from Gothenburg formed in 1996. The original members were Anders and Jonas Björler, Peter Dolving, Adrian Erlandsson and Patrik Jensen. Both of the Björler brothers and Erlandsson were members of the seminal melodic death metal band At the Gates, a pioneering force in the Swedish death metal scene.

The Haunted used to be one of my very favourite bands and I recall that I was waiting for this album with baited breath. The band's first four albums are all aggressive, dangerous slabs of modern thrashy metal that would peel the skin off your face if you came too close to the speakers as you listened; the fifth album, 'The Dead Eye', was a departure from the aggressive sound and dropped the pace and groove for a more atmospheric experience that found a. lot of hatred, but wasn't intrinsically poor, only unexpectedly different  . Versus' doesn't come down clearly on either side of the line. The Haunted will always be, for me, a heavy band first and foremost, with the ability to affect emotion and atmosphere a distant second place.
