A2. I Shall Be Released. Written-By – Bob Dylan.

I Shall Be Released" is a 1967 song, written by Bob Dylan. The Band recorded the first officially released version of the song for their 1968 debut album, Music from Big Pink, with Richard Manuel singing lead vocals, and Rick Danko and Levon Helm harmonizing in the chorus.

II album that his version was officially released. The Band, who backed up Dylan on his first electric tour, recorded it for Music From Big Pink, which was their first album. Their version is the most well-known. This song could be either an anti-death penalty composition or a metaphoric attempt by Dylan at looking forward to being released from Hell on Earth - possibly awaiting the "release" from the hell of being an innocent man wrongly imprisoned Between 1967 and 1970 the Memphis-area quintet had ten Top 100 hits; their two biggest hits were "The Letter" ( for 4 weeks in 1967) and "Cry Like A Baby" ( for 2 weeks in 1968).

About I Shall Be Released lyrics. Album Before The Flood (1974). Label Asylum Records. from album: Before The Flood (1974). They say evrything can be replaced, Yet every distance is not near. So I remember every face Of every man who put me here. I see my light come shining From the west onto the east. Any day now, any day how, I shall be released. They say every man needs protection, They say every man must fall. Yet I swear I see my reflection Some place so high above this wall. Standing next to me in this lonely crowd, Is a man who swears he's not to blame
