Description

You Are The Love Of My Life (Roberta Flack & George Benson) 06. Rest Your Love On Me (Andy Gibb & Olivia Newton John) 0. How Do You Keep The Music Playing (Album Version).

It's on our playlist of Motown’s greatest duets. Your Precious Love,’ written by regular Tamla hitmakers Ashford & Simpson and produced by Harvey Fuqua and Johnny Bristol, was one of many great examples of the vocal chemistry between Marvin and Tammi before her life was so cruelly cut short. What we accomplished was to create two characters and let them sing to each other, Gaye later told writer David Ritz. That’s how the Marvin and Tammi characters were born. While we were singing, we were in lov. ut when the music ended, we kissed each other on the cheek and said goodbye. Gaye practically owned the duet format on Motown.

Motown Greatest Hits. A three-disc set released by Universal International, Motown Greatest Hits is a wonderful collection that combines the obvious Motown hits with material a little less at the center of the label's patented 1960's sound. Rick James' "Superfreak" and Billy Preston's "With You I'm Born Again" are just two of the titles mixed in here that give this anthology a more comprehensive feel than the usual Motown compilations. Relatively uncommon tracks like "I Hear a Symphony" by the Isley Brothers, and the movie theme song "Ben" by Michael.

Where Did Our Love Go (1964), their second album, is a good document of their ambitious climb to stardom as it is a hodge-podge of recordings made between 1962-’64. A Breathtaking Guy, written by Smokey Robinson, is similar to singer Mary Wells’ style but peaked at No. 75 as a single in 1963. Working hard at recording and being a regular opening act for various Motown revues, the Monitors weren’t as successful as Motown would’ve wanted. To supplement their incomes they took other jobs within the label, such as Street being part of the Quality Control team. This predates Isaac Hayes and others who also began to experiment with long songs on their albums.

Baby Love" - The Supremes Hot 100 Peak: No. 1 for four weeks (1964). When this song reached the top of the Hot 100, the Supremes became the first Motown act to have two No. 1s. Just a few months earlier, they were known around Berry Gordy's company as "the no-hit Supremes," but that changed when their previous single, "Where Did Our Love Go," achieved pole position. 48. "Love Story" - Taylor Swift Hot 100 Peak: No. 4 (2009). It's not a surprise that Swift wrote this song based on a real guy she was dating. There wasn't unanimous agreement among the members of Foreigner that this song would be a great single for the group. Lou Gramm thought it might do irreparable damage to their rock image and Rick Willis thought it was "fluffy. Mick Jones told Billboard the track was released "because it was coming out at Christmas and it had the right kind of mood.
