Chrome Cranks (PCP, 1994) is the quintessential Chrome Cranks album: slow voodoo blues (Subway Man), devastating, lycanthropic rock and roll (Drag House), sinister Gun Club-ish beat and howl (Driving Bad) and horrendous Captain Beefheart-ian blues aberrations (Doll In A Dress) conjure images of sadistic rituals in mental asylums at breathtaking pace. Dead Cool (Crypt, 1995) added Bob Bert of Boss Hog on drums.
