This utterly unique release from Minton Sparks consists solely of her reading her poetry with guitar, mandolin, banjo, and dobro support played in an old-school country idiom. While this may seem a limited if not outright silly idea to some, the result is stirring and sometimes downright magical. The poetry consists mostly of vignettes recalling Sparks' youth growing up in Tennessee, and when coupled with the stark underpinning of Darryl Scott's picking, the effect is that of Eudora Welty jamming with Dock Boggs or Doc Watson  . By doing so, I landed records with both Beyoncé and Akon recording them. Beyoncé, Akon and Kanye all said you sound amazing and should be putting records out yourself. 4 April ·. Don’t be fooled by thinking because you made your dreams come true, you’ve escaped your nightmares. People to often try to mask their fears, pain, worry, insecurity, etc. instead of addressing it, discussing it or admitting to it. They feel if they joke around and make people laugh, Bury themselves in work or worse, temporarily erase it with drugs or alcohol it will go away. It’s a never ending cycle because those nightmares still remain nket over them.

Minton Sparks is a poet, performance artist & novelist who found her scene in the southern country-folk scene. Along the way, Minton has documented the captivating evolution of her work with albums (2001’s Middlin’ Sisters, 2003’s This Dress and 2005’s Sin Sick), books (2007’s Desperate Ransom: Setting Her Family Free and 2008’s White Lightning) and a performance film (2006’s Open Casket)
